Lindsey Payton joined the Coppin State women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in September 2023 after spending the previous season as an assistant at Augusta University in Georgia.
In her lone season with the Jaguars, the team went 17-12 with a pair of players earning All-PBC honors. Prior to that, Payton served as an assistant coach at Academy of Art in San Francisco and helped the Urban Knights to an 18-11 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Payton also spent two seasons at Siena Heights, an NAIA program in Michigan, where the Saints went 50-14 during her tenure. The Saints made a historic run in her second year, setting a program-record with 27 wins with a trip to the NAIA Tournament and a pair of All-Americans.
After competing at Arizona Christian University and collecting a NAIA Scholar Athlete Award, Payton earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in Sports Psychology in 2017. She went on to graduate from Siena Heights with a master’s degree in business administration in 2020.
Payton started her coaching career in 2016 as a student assistant at ACU, helping the Firestorm earn a top 25 ranking, and spent multiple seasons as a travel basketball youth coach with Hamm Hoops LLC.
