Former Coppin State standout Kaiya Coleman joined the Eagles coaching staff as director of basketball operations and player development for the 2019-20 season. Coleman was retained by head coach Laura Harper for the 2020-21 season as Coppin's Director of Player Personnel.
In her lone season with the Eagles after playing at both Shaw University and District of Columbia, Coleman averaged 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while starting in 13 of her 27 games. Coleman also recorded 35 assists and 34 steals and converted on a buzzer-beating layup to defeat Morgan State in the First Round of the 2019 MEAC Tournament.
Coleman played one season with the Firebirds for current CSU men’s basketball head coach Juan Dixon and put up 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists which included a career-high 21 points. In her two seasons at Shaw, Coleman scored 126 points in 48 games. Â
