Jazmone Turner

Jazmone Turner is entering her third season as Associate Head Coach at Coppin State University. At Coppin State University Turner is responsible for point guard and wing development, recruiting coordinating, scheduling, fundraising, scouting, offensive strategies, practice planning, equipment management, and she is the liaison between the medical staff and support staff.

During Turner’s time at Coppin she played a vital role in the development of Brooke Fields. During Fields campaign at Coppin State she was named Boxtorow second team All-American, first team all MEAC. Fields averaged 19.9 points and 4.7 assist while shooting 81% from the free throw line during conference play. Fields signed a contract with Baerum Basket Bekkestua in Norway.

Turner began her collegiate coaching career at the Division II level as a graduate assistant at Ohio Valley University in 2014 before being named the Interim Head Coach of the Fighting Scots during the 2015-2016 season. During the Fighting Scots 2015-2016 campaign, Turner guided the program to their first appearance in the Greater Midwest Athletic Conference tournament. In 2016-2017, Turner was named Head Coach of the Fighting Scouts. Turner completed the preseason at Ohio Valley University in 2017 before accepting the position at Coppin.

Turner played three years of collegiate basketball at Muskingum University where she was a team captain from 2008-2011. Turner tore her ACL during her junior campaign and decided not to complete her senior season athletically. Turner completed her undergraduate degree in 2012.

Soon after Turner graduated, she immediately began her coaching career at the high school level as an assistant coach with Trotwood Madison High School from 2012-2013. After completing one year at Trotwood Madison High School, Turner was offered the junior-varsity head coaching job at Northmont High School where she also assisted on the varsity teams’ bench from 2013-2014. Turner also spent time coaching AAU with Jay-Bee Beetha, an All-Ohio EBYL team. During her tenure with All-Ohio she led the top freshman team of the program. She coached and mentored players such as CeCe Hooks, Alexis Stover, Kennedy Azubike, and Erica Johnson who all played collegiately at the Division I level.

Turner earned her undergraduate degree from Muskingum University where she studied health and physical education. Turner completed her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio Valley University in 2016. In May 2019, Turner completed her Master’s in professional Sports Administration at Ohio University.

Turner is a native of Dayton Ohio. She graduated from Trotwood Madison High School. Turner was a part of the 2019 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 30 under 30 class.
