Sawyer Fried is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Coppin State softball program. A native of Miami, Fla., Fried will assist in all areas of the softball program.
Fried comes to the Eagles after spending the 2017 season as an assistant coach at West Virginia Wesleyan, an NCAA Division II program in Buckhannon. Named the Hawks’ team captain as a senior after leading the squad in hitting, RBI and on-base percentage in 2014, Fried earned All-Tournament Team honors in her final collegiate season and was twice named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Fried went on to play professionally overseas in Örebro, Sweden for the KIF Eagles and represented the country in the European Premiere Cup Women where they earned a sixth place finish. Throughout her time abroad, Fried also assisted in coaching the Swedish National team to a Baltic Softball Open victory.
When not playing softball, Fried coached several younger squads, including the 10u and 18u Miami Stingrays, 14u CT Mirage and KIF Eagles Junior Team.
