Marcus Brown is in his first year as an Academic Coordinator and Assistant Track Coach.
Brown, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Clemson University, will work with the Eagles’ throwers. In addition to his academic duties, Brown also serves as the advisor of the Coppin State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
A decorated student-athlete, Brown starred as a shot-putter at Clemson and Maryland Eastern Shore. At Clemson, Brown was a two time NCAA East Region Qualifier, two-time Atlantic Coast Conference(ACC) Silver Medalist, a two-time member of the All ACC Team and was the number three all-time shot-putter in the event. He also was a two time All-ACC honors athlete.
Before starring at Clemson, Brown shined at UMES where he won the indoor and outdoor MEAC shot put titles in 2011. He also was the 2011 MEAC indoor runner-up in the 35-pound weight throw indoors. Brown was named MEAC Rookie of the Year in 2010 and was the MEAC discus champion as a freshman. He was also a two-time team MVP for UMES.
The Washington, D.C. native enjoyed a memorable career at Quince Orchard High School where he earned all-state, all-country and Washington Post All-Metropolitan honors. He was a two-time team MVP and the Washington Post Athlete-of-the-Year as a high school senior. Brown helped Quince to 2007 state championship at the AAAA level and track team to 2008 crown. Individually, he won three state championships, two in the shot put and one in the discus.
