Kyle Richardson

Kyle Richardson joins the Coppin State baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach in the 2017 season working with the hitters, outfielders and as a recruiter.
 
Prior to Coppin State, Richardson had a career in financial services before returning to baseball. Collegiately, he was a catcher/outfielder for the University of Notre Dame from 2012-16 seeing most of his game action in centerfield for the Fighting Irish. Richardson was a four-time monogram winner and his career moment was hitting a walk-off homerun against a ranked University of North Carolina team back in 2015 clinching the first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament berth for Notre Dame in program history.
 
Richardson played in 164 games making 89 career starts while posting an outstanding career fielding percentage of .989. In 2016, he led the entire NCAA Division I in outfield assists recording a nation-best seven.  Richardson played one year in the Northwoods League (2015) and played two season (2013-14) in the NECBL. He earned a spot on the NECBL All-Star team in 2014 leading the league in stolen bases.  
As a student-athlete at Notre Dame, Richardson earned academic honors in the Big East and ACC conferences. He was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and led many community service outreach programs. Richardson was awarded by the ACC and Notre Dame in 2016 for his career long community service outreach.
 
The Chicago, Illinois native attended Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL where he played football, basketball and baseball. Richardson won a football state championship in 2009 and is the oldest of three siblings; Courtney and Britney. Courtney currently plays softball for the University of Michigan. His father Tim, played minor league baseball for the Royals, Orioles and Indians making it to AAA. Richardson earned a degree in Finance from the Mendoza College of Business in 2016.
