Greg Beckman returns to the Coppin State coaching staff after a year sabbatical. He was responsible for the 2013 successful 18-win season that saw the Coppin State pitchers break the modern-day record for earned run average as the pitching coach. He's returning to the same position. Beckman worked with the Eagles from 2011-2014.

Beckman spent the 2010 season as an associate scout with the San Diego Padres after serving as an assistant coach with the UMBC baseball program.

Prior to coming to Coppin State in the fall of 2008, Beckman was the head coach and assistant athletic director at St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis (Md.). He also served as an assistant coach at St. Mary’s High School in 2007.

Beckman’s other baseball experience includes scouting for the Colorado Rockies in 2000-03 covering North Florida and South Georgia and coaching a summer collegiate scout team in Jacksonville, Florida in 2002-03.

He has coached at the high school level in the Atlanta, Ga. Area from 1997-2000 at Milton High School and North Cobb High School.

A native of Cleveland, he played at both Kent Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio (1985-86) and Lakeland High School in Lakeland, Florida in 1987-1988 before playing at Tallahassee Community College in 1990-91.

A 1993 graduate of Florida State University, Beckman resides in Chesapeake Beach, MD. He also has two sons Bradley and Andrew.
