Baseball Lets Lehigh Get Away From Them in Midweek Loss

HANOVER, Md. – Coppin State's baseball team took a 38-6 loss against Lehigh on Tuesday afternoon at Joe Cannon Stadium.  The Eagles fell to 7-24 on the season while the Mountain Hawks moved to 10-24 overall.

Noah Hogan had three of Coppin's 11 base hits while scoring two runs while freshman Angel Garcia drove in a pair of runs.

Lehigh scored 20 runs in the top of the first on just three hits with 11 walks and six hit batters before Garcia drove in a run for the Eagles with a groundout in the first.

The Mountain Hawks added two runs in both the second and third to extend their lead to 24-1.  Jordan Treadwell, Armando (AJ) Hurtado and Garcia had three-straight hits to drive in runs in the bottom half of the inning, but Lehigh did not let up, erupting for seven in the fourth, one each in the fifth and sixth and five in the seventh.

Emilio Feliciano also had an RBI single in the fifth for the Eagles, and a throwing error also allowed Jamar Whitehead and Pedro Agosto to score.

Ten CSU pitchers walked 25 batters and hit nine more in the seven-inning contest.

The Eagles host LIU in a three-game NEC series on April 17-19.  Friday's game is set for 3 pm, followed by 1 pm on Saturday and 12 pm on Sunday.
