BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Coppin State's
Reagan Rivera and
Justin Ritz were both named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Rivera and Ritz are the first Coppin State baseball players to ever receive All-NEC honors since the Eagles joined the league as an associate member in 2023.
A senior from San Diego, Calif., Rivera went 5-4 with a 4.91 earned run average while striking out a CSU record 97 batters in 80.2 innings. Rivera held batters to a .232 batting average and struck out at least seven batters in ten of his 14 starts. He fanned a career-high 11 batters against Le Moyne and ten more in just five innings against VMI. Rivera was even better in conference play, recording a 4-3 record with a 3.86 earned run average while holding batters to a .217 average.
The top reliever in the NEC, Ritz appeared in a CSU record 27 games on the mound, going 3-2 with a league-leading seven saves while recording a 4.11 earned run average. A junior from Portsmouth, Va., Ritz accumulated an impressive 1.04 WHIP and held batters to a .222 average while striking out 36 in 57.0 innings. Six of his saves came in conference play as he went 2-2 with a 2.82 earned run average, accumulating a 0.92 WHIP and holding batters to a .201 average.
