HANOVER, Md. – Coppin State's baseball team dropped its series finale to Le Moyne, 23-3 on Sunday afternoon at Joe Cannon Stadium. The Eagles fell to 13-26 overall and 11-10 in the NEC while the Dolphins improved to 15-22 on the year and 14-7 in league play.
Bryce Thompson had a pair of hits to lead the Eagles offense while
Daniel Moore drove in two runs with a hit and a walk.
Indy Anderson added a solo home run for Coppin.
Kaden Straily gave up seven runs in the first 3.1 innings while striking out six. The Eagles needed Straily,
Keith Wallace, Park Roeder and
Michael Matthews to finish the fourth inning.
Jeremiah Eneix threw the final 3.0 innings, allowing just two runs on three hits. CSU walked 18 batters and hit five but the defense also committed five errors.
Moore recorded a sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the first, following a triple by
Anthony Divittorio, to put Coppin on top.
Le Moyne answered with two in the second and one in the third before scoring 18 combined runs in the fourth and fifth to take a commanding lead.
Anderson slugged a home run to right in the sixth, but the Dolphins came right back with two in the seventh.
Moore drove in
Curtis Battle with a single to left center in the left to cap off the scoring.
The Eagles travel to Lehigh for a midweek on Tuesday, April 29 before hosting Stonehill for a three-game conference series on May 2-4.
