ERIE, Pa. – It was another pitcher's duel in the series finale, but Coppin State's baseball team got the upper hand with a 1-0 victory at Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles improved to 4-9 on the season and 2-1 in the NEC after taking the series from the Lakers (2-12, 1-2 NEC).
Kaden Straily threw 7.0 shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six.
Justin Ritz picked up his second save of the series, giving up just one hit and striking out three in the final 2.0 innings.
Coppin got just three hits, but the RBI single by
Jayden Asencio was all that Straily and the Eagles would need.
Daniel Moore went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks.
Asencio's single came after Moore led off the fourth with a walk and advanced into scoring position on a single by
Indy Anderson.
