Anderson Drives in Three Runs as Baseball Falls at Georgetown

TYSONS, Va. – Indy Anderson drove in three runs on a pair of hits as Coppin State's baseball team fell to Georgetown, 21-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Capital One Park.  The Eagles fell to 2-8 on the season as the Hoyas improved to 4-8.
 
Anderson finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk and was one of three Coppin players with a pair of hits. Derek Blackmore also had two hits with a walk and an RBI while Pranav Sundar doubled twice and scored a run.
 
Four Eagles pitchers made appearances with Brandon Stephens taking the loss after going the first 1.2 innings. Michael Matthews and Park Roeder threw 2.0 innings each before Jeremiah Eneix got the final out.
 
Coppin took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Daniel Moore was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  The advantage was short lived as the Hoyas scored two in their half of the first and six in the second.
 
Matthews got a 1-2-3 inning in the third but Georgetown erupted for eight runs in the fourth.
 
Bryce Thompson reached on an error to start the fifth and scored on Anderson's single to center/  The Hoyas got the run back in their half of the inning before Coppin put together its best inning with four runs in the sixth.
 
Sundar doubled to the gap in right center to start the inning and the bases got loaded following a HBP and a walk. Thompson was hit by a pitch to start the scoring before Anderson drove in two with a single to right field. Blackmore followed with an RBI single down the right field line before a lineout ended the rally.
 
Georgetown got all four runs back in the bottom half, and following another leadoff double by Sundar, Coppin managed just a walk and was picked off to end the game.
 
The Eagles open NEC play on March 7-9 at Mercyhurst with Friday's game starting at 2 pm, followed by 12 pm starts on Saturday and Sunday.
