CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Tiffany Hammond and
Angel Jones scored 12 points apiece and
Laila Lawrence posted a double-double as the Coppin State women's basketball team fell at 15
th-ranked North Carolina, 72-46 on Sunday afternoon at Carmichael Arena. The Eagles fell to 6-5 on the year while the Tar Heels improved to 9-1.

- Hammond hit three 3-pointers and made 4-of-11 from the floor while adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Jones made 5-of-13 shots from the field and added a pair of free throws to go with three rebounds and an assist.
- Lawrence scored ten points and grabbed a game-high ten rebounds for her league-leading seventh double-double of the season which ranks second nationally.
- Cire Worley added five points and Mickelle Lowry scored three with both sinking 3-pointers. Tyler Gray and Arielle-Vadrelle Belinga also scored with Belinga recording a career-high seven rebounds.
- North Carolina outshot Coppin, 44.4% to 27.3% and made 12 3-pointers to the Eagles' six triples. Both teams made just four three throws.
How it Happened
- Coppin stayed right with one of the top teams in the Nation early on with Hammond scoring on a three-point play followed by jumpers from Jones and Lawrence.
- The Tar Heels responded with eight-straight points to go up, 16-7, before a three from Worley stopped the drought and cut the deficit to just six.
- North Carolina answered with a three at the other end, going on another 7-0 run before Lowry sunk a three in the final minutes of the quarter.
- Hammond and Lawrence buried threes early in the second quarter, keeping the margin to ten points before UNC hit three-straight threes to extend its lead.
- Hammond hit another three before the half, and both Belinga and Jones added field goals in the closing minutes before halftime.
- The Eagles played even with North Carolina in the third quarter with 14 points apiece but were unable to pull closer than a 15-point deficit with 1:25 left in the period after a jumper by Gray.
