EMMITSBURG, Md. – Brett Curran went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk as Coppin State's baseball team fell at Mount St. Mary's, 13-1 on Tuesday afternoon at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. The Eagles now stands at 18-31 on the year while the Mountaineers improve to 25-24.
Coppin spotted The Mount 13 runs in the first four innings as the hosts scored six in the first, five in the second and one run apiece in the third and fourth innings.
Juan Pablo Hernandez threw a scoreless fifth for the Eagles as he forced an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play before
Giovanni Canales got a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
CSU plated one run in the seventh for its lone run of the game, coming on an RBI single from Curran which drove in
Brian Nicolas from second. Nicolas drew a leadoff walk before advancing into scoring position on a single from
Keith Gardner.
The Eagles close out the regular season on May 18-20 when they host Norfolk State in a three-game series. Thursday's game is scheduled for 3:00 pm, followed by a 1 pm start on Friday, and 12 pm for Senior Day Saturday.
