WASHINGTON, D.C. - Coppin State's softball team dropped a pair of games at George Washington University on Wednesday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Campus. The Eagles dropped the first game, 11-0 before falling, 6-2 in the nightcap.

Manaia Fonoti gave Coppin an early lead in the nightcap with double in the first, driving in
Brissa Alvarado who singled earlier in the inning.

GW came right back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning before CSU tied it up in the third on an RBI single by Alvarado.

The Colonials retook the lead with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth before
Vanessa Carrizosa held them scoreless in the final two innings.

Alvarado continued her hot-hitting with a other multi-hit effort, as did
Celeste Gonzales.

Carrizosa went the distance in the circle, giving up five runs while striking out five in the complete game.

Coppin returns to action at the JMU Dukes Invitational where it'll play Fairleigh Dickinson and the Dukes on Friday, Saint Joseph's on Saturday, and both FDU and Radford on Sunday.
