BALTIMORE, MD- With double-double performances from Watkins and Bucknor, Coppin State women's basketball defeated University of Maryland Eastern Shore for senior day this Saturday at the PEC Arena. With a final score of 56-45, UMES and Coppin are now tied in conference play with a 4-8 record.
Inside the Numbers
- Watkins hit five threes and led all players with a game high 19 points to go with 12 rebounds.
- Bucknor led all players with 14 rebounds, and was the teams second leading scorer with 11 points.

How it Happened
- Bucknor scored all eight points for the Eagles in the first quarter to trail to UMES by two (10-8).
- Salley scored four straight points in the second quarter to bring a 17 point tie.
- The Hawks went on a 7-0 run in the second quarter before Staples and Watkins hit a pair of threes to close the half with a tie at 25.
- Coppin closed the third quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 36-35 lead.
- Watkins had ten points in the fourth quarter alone.
- Watkins and Staples hit a pair of threes before Bucknor scored a bucket to open an eight point lead in the fourth quarter.
- Amira tallied four points in the quarter and scored an and one to extend a double digit lead.
- Watkins hit a three at 1:16 in the fourth to bring out the largest lead in the game (55-40).
- The Eagles outscored UMES in the fourth 20-10 as Coppin secured a 56-45 win.
