BALTIMORE - Coppin State's baseball team will host 28 games during the 2024 season with both Creighton and Yale visiting Joe Cannon Stadium for three-game weekends, it was announced by head coach
Sherman Reed on Wednesday.
The Eagles open the campaign with the Blue Jays on February 16-18, and following a midweek trip to George Mason, Coppin hosts seven-straight games with series' against Saint Peter's (Feb. 23-25) and the Bulldogs (Mar. 1-3) sandwiching a midweek against George Washington.
After a short trip to Navy on March 6, the Navy & Gold opens Northeast Conference action with Merrimack coming to town on March 8-10. Coppin also hosts NEC rivals Delaware State (Mar. 22-24), Maryland Eastern Shore (Apr. 19-21), Central Connecticut State (May 3-5) and Long Island University (May 16-18) throughout the season.
CSU will play home-and-home series' against Mount St. Mary's and Lehigh while hosting VMI on May 1. The Eagles return a visit to George Washington on April 9 with single-game trips to UMBC on March 26, Georgetown on April 3 and Towson on April 17.
Coppin finished 21-31 overall and tied for sixth with a 14-16 in the NEC in 2023, it's first season as an associate member of the conference. The Eagles return three of their top six hitters from last year, including outfielder
Brody Black, infielder
Angel Colon and two-way player
Liam McCallum. The pitching staff welcomes back top reliever
Nico Felber and the roster will be boosted by a record 23 newcomers.
