CARY, N.C. – Coppin State's women's tennis team's season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Morgan State in the MEAC Tournament on Thursday morning at Cary Tennis Center. The Eagles finish the campaign at 1-18 overall.
CSU's top duo of
Iva Jankovic and
Megan Etienne held their own and trailed, just 3-2 before doubles matches at No. 2 and 3 ended with 6-1 defeats.
Lucia Placidi and
Kristina Georgieva were slotted in the second slot while
Mackenzie Jones and
Christy Turner battled the Bears in the third flight.
A Second Team All-MEAC performer, Jankovic dominated the first set in her match at No. 1 singles, taking the opener, 6-1. Jankovic was up 5-4 in the second set but the match was unfinished due to Morgan picking up wins at Nos. 3, 5 and 6.
Georgieva was edged, 7-5 in the opener at No. 2 singles and trailed just, 4-2 in the second when Morgan clinched the match. Turner won four games in the opening set but the second set went unfinished.
Placidi dropped her match in the third slot, 6-1, 6-2 while Etienne won three games in a pair of sets at No. 5 and Jones picked up a game in each set at No. 6.
