Washington, D.C.- Coppin Women's Tennis lost to Howard 6-1 on Friday, April 1st at the Banneker Recreation Center. Howard is now 7-3 overall (4-0 MEAC) white Coppin drops to 0-5 in conference play.
Iva Jankovic grabbed a victory in first singles against Jordan Grayson in a two set match. With heavy wind, Jankovic won a tight first set 7-5, then got a quick 6-2 win in the second set. The Jankovic victory marks Grayson's first match loss for the season.
Christy Turner and Megan Etienne won five games a piece in their singles matches for two set losses, as Kristina Georgieva and Mackenzie Jones tallied three game wins in fourth and fifth singles.
Lucia Placidi matched up against Nadia Pegram in third singles. She won three games in a loss in the first set, and dropped the second set 6-1.
In doubles play, Jankovic and Etienne faced the duo of Sifa Butcher and Grayson for a 6-1 defeat. Turner and Placidi saw action in second doubles against Emnet Simunyla and Pegram with a 6-1 loss. The Eagles duo of Georgieva and Jones won two games in third doubles against Kendall Addison and alexandra Blackwell for a 5-2 defeat.
