Bowling Finishes Fifth at Bud Whitman Memorial After Taking 4-of-5 Baker Matches on Day 2

NEW CASTLE, Del. – Coppin State's bowling team went 3-1 in its scheduled Baker Matches before defeating Kutztown in the final result position round to finish fifth at the Bud Whitman Memorial on Sunday afternoon at Bowlerama.
 
Over two days, Coppin went 7-3 overall with 9,257 total pins for an average of 181.51 pins per game.
 
The Eagles opened the day with a 4-1 victory over Kutztown, opening the series with a 217-173 win.  After another blowout win in game two, 191-165, CSU dropped the next three but managed to win via total pinfall, 854-811.
 
Coppin had its best performance of the afternoon against Pitt.-Greensburg, defeating the Panthers, 987-664.  The Eagles opened with a 228 and 226 to put the match out of reach for a 987-664 victory.
 
CSU went toe-to-toe with #12 Delaware State before falling, 949-859.  The Eagles edged the Hornets, 189-187 in the opener, and won game four, 219-197, but were outdone in games two, three and five.
 
A pair of blowout wins in the first two games against Molloy gave Coppin an insurmountable lead and the Eagles were victorious, 873-844. 
 
The final position round featured a Best-of-7 scoring system in which Coppin bested Kutztown, 4-2.  The Eagles routed the Golden Bears, 258-143 in the opener, but fell behind in games two and three.  Game four saw Coppin even the series with a 206-156 win and the Eagles took care of KU in both games five and six for the victory.
