BALTIMORE – Coppin State's women's tennis team wrapped up its season with a 7-0 loss to MEAC rival Howard on Saturday afternoon at CSU Tennis Courts. Prior to the match, the Eagles honored its seniors
Shariah Dunwell and
Tinashe Gwaze.
Howard won both doubles matches to take an early 2-0 lead as Gwaze and
Mackenzie Jones dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1 while
Christy Turner and Dunwell took a 6-1 defeat in the second spot.
Playing in her final collegiate match, Gwaze won the first set in her match at No. 4 singles, 7-5, but dropped the second set, 6-1 before falling, 11-9 in a heartbreaking third set. Jones had an impressive showing in the third position but fell, 7-5, 6-4.
Dunwell took a pair of games in her loss in the top singles flight while Turner won four games in a straight set loss on Court 2.
