EWING, N.J. – Coppin State's
Iva Jankovic and
Christy Turner both went three sets in their singles matches but the Eagles fell at TCNJ, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon at TCNJ Recreation Center. The Lions remain undefeated at 2-0 while the Eagles now stand at 0-7.
Jankovic and Turner each won their opening set at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively as Jankovic won the first in a tiebreaker in the second spot. Jankovic dropped the next two sets 6-3, 10-5. Turner won her opener 6-4 but dropped the second and third sets by 6-1 and 10-7 scores.
The duo teamed up for a doubles match on Court 1 but fell, 8-4, while
Mackenzie Jones and
Tinashe Gwaze dropped their match at No. 2 by an 8-1 margin.
Gwaze fell in toughly contested match at No. 5 singles, dropping the first set 6-3 before falling in a tiebreaker in the second.
The Eagles are set to host Norfolk State on Saturday, April 3.
