BALTIMORE – The Coppin State women's basketball remains undefeated at home after a victorious 68-43 win over Winthrop Thursday night in the PEC Arena.
The Eagles move to 6-5 on the season and 3-0 at home for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
Aliyah Lawson led all players with 21 points and four steals, with a career-high seven made threes.
Jalynda Salley was the second leading scorer, with a season-high 19 points, including nine rebounds, and led all players in blocks (3).
Cortney Gardner had a career-high with seven points and shot 3-of-4 from the field.
Jewel Watkins led all players with a career-high in rebounds (12).

Alexandria Hamilton dished out six assists each.
Winthrop scored the opening basket before the Coppin Eagles scored five unanswered to take an early 5-2 lead. Back-and-forth points were exchanged before a lay-up by Salley gave the Eagles a one-point lead going into the second.
Coppin started the second quarter off on an 8-0 run, generated by a bucket from Hamilton, followed by a three from Lawson, topped off with a layup off of a put-back from Salley. Watkins scored four straight points to bring the Eagles lead into double figures. The Eagles finished the half with a 32-21 advantage.
Salley opened the second half with six straight points for Coppin to maintain a double-digit lead. Lawson continued to have a hot hand as she hit back-to-back threes by mid-quarter.
Up 14 to start the fourth CSU kept flying through increasing their lead to 18 on a lay-up from Staples with 8:54 left in the game. A three by Gardner with 4:15 left to play gave Coppin its largest lead of the night (64-36). A lay-up from Staples with 1:13 left to play sealed the deal for Coppin.
Coppin is back in action in the PEC Arena hosting Maryland on Tuesday, December 21. Game time is scheduled for 11 am.
