NORFOLK, Va. – The Coppin State women's tennis team's season came to an end as it fell to top-seeded South Carolina State, 4-0, in the First Round of the MEAC Tournament Thursday morning at Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
South Carolina State picked up the doubles point with a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles over the combination of
Shariah Dunwell and
Precious Udofe. The Bulldogs earned a win in the third spot by default and held a 5-1 lead at No. 1 over
Brittanie Cahua and
Tinashe Gwaze.
In singles play, the Bulldogs got the win at No. 6 by default, as well as victories over Dunwell, 6-0, 6-1, in the top slot, as well as a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Ajla Hrnjic at No. 5.
Matches against Gwaze, Cahua and Udofe at Nos. 2-4, respectively, went unfinished with Gwaze playing to a 5-5 score in the first set.
