DAYTON, Ohio – Playing their second game in under 24 hours, Coppin State's women's basketball team fell at Dayton, 78-48, on Tuesday afternoon at UD Arena.
Aliyah Lawson finished with a season-high 19 points.

- Aliyah Lawson finished with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting while making all four of her 3-point field goals. Lawson also tied for a team-high five rebounds.
- Alexandria Hamilton was also in double figures with ten points, a pair of rebounds and two steals while Chance Graham added eight points and five rebounds.
- Jalynda Salley also pulled down five rebounds along with five points and E'Mya Price dished out three assists to lead the Eagles.
- Dayton outshot Coppin, 51.8% to 35.6% and turned 25 CSU turnovers into 27 points. Coppin also forced the Flyers into 16 turnovers.
How it Happened
- Coppin State scored the game's first eight points as Aliyah Lawson made a pair of threes as well as a layup with 8:11 left in the first.
- Dayton then ran off seven-straight points before a layup by Alexandria Hamilton put CSU up, 10-7 at the 5:07 mark.
- The Flyers closed out the half on a 11-0 run but a layup by Jalynda Salley at the buzzer made it a 18-12 score after the opening quarter.
- Chance Graham opened the second period with a three to cut the deficit to 18-15 with 8:48 to go in the quarter, but that was as close as the Eagles would get the rest of the way.
- After trading baskets, UD began to pull away with a 12-0 run and led 38-22 at the half with Lawson leading all scorers with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 3-of-3 from deep.
- Out of the half, Coppin kept the margin about the same until the hosts went on an 8-0 run to build up a 55-29 advantage.
- However, CSU did not go down without a fight, closing the stanza on a 9-0 run to pull within 55-38 after three.
- Dayton scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to extend its advantage to 62-38 with 8:12 left to play and the final score was its largest lead of the game.
