HAMMOND, La. – Coppin State softball was shutout 11-0 by Southern Illinois University on Friday, February 10
th in their first game of the Lions Classic. Coppin State finished with four total hits.
Freshman outfielder
Haley Bravo paced the Coppin state offense with a season-high two hits while freshman infielder
Patricia Soria had her first hit of the season and sophomore designated hitter
Melanie Benge also singled.
Southern Illinois hammered out 11 hits and scored 11 runs. SIU scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning, seven runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning.
Sophomore pitcher
Madison Didion suffered her first loss of the season going 2.1 innings. Didion struck out one batter and gave up her first walk. Sophomore
Dakota Gartrell pitched in relief recording her first action on the mound of the season.
The Eagles will play two games tomorrow in the Lions Classic. First CSU takes on the University of Tennessee at Martin at 11 a.m. and then Mississippi Valley State is scheduled for 1p.m.
