SAAC Participates in Tree Mulching at Druid Hill Park

BALTIMORE, Md. - On Friday, November 4, 2016 Coppin State University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered at Druid Hill Park helping serve in tree mulching.

SAAC President and men's basketball student-athlete Joseph Gripper and SAAC Treasurer Izais Hicks also of the men's basketball team were helping trimming weeds from the trees to help grow new ones. The softball, women's track & field and women's basketball teams were placing mulch around the old trees to help grow new ones.

The overall experience from this community service was relaxing, and heartwarming. Allowing student-athletes to take time out of their day to give back to the community in an environmental friendly way did leave a positive impact on Coppin State's SAAC and Druid Hill Park. SAAC Coordinator Christina Epps was eager to start this project up again for the current SAAC members since she has already done it when she was once a Coppin Eagle herself.

SAAC provides involvement for each athletic team leaders to be a humanitarian and provide events and engaging the Coppin State athletic community with Eagle pride!
