2013-14 MEN'S TENNIS AWARD WINNERS

BALTIMORE –Tre'Vonne Peyton, Patrick Thomas and Daniel Nino were named the Coppin State University men's tennis award winners during the 2014 All-Sport Banquet on Tuesday, May 7. Peyton won the unsung player award, Thomas was named most improved and Nino was selected as most valuable player.
They helped Coppin State qualify for the MEAC tournament for the third straight year. Nino, Peyton and Thomas all played huge roles in helping the Eagles beat Hampton, 5-2, on April 8. Peyton and Thomas posted an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles that helped Coppin State win the coveted doubles point in the win over the Bison. Nino also won his doubles match with his partner Oleysik Krylchuk.
Diwani Lewis was named MEAC men's tennis coach of the year.
Thomas won four singles matches, which was third on the team this season. Peyton finished with three singles victories. As a doubles pairing, Thomas and Peyton compiled a 4-5 mark together. They won two of their final three regular season matches against Howard and UMBC as a pairing.
Nino led Coppin State this season with six triumphs at No. 2 singles. He finished with 19 career singles wins, which is tied for eighth all-time in CSU history. Nino also won six doubles matches with Krylchuk. Nino had a three-match winning streak, which included victories over opponents from Hampton, Mt. St. Mary's and St. Francis.
