Kraft signs with Coppin

BALTIMORE – It'll be a family affair for the Coppin State baseball team during the 2014-15 season after head baseball coach Sherman Reed announced the signing of Jesse Kraft.
Kraft's older brother, Jack, was a key member of the CSU baseball team this past season. Jesse, who is from Nutley (NJ), helped his St. Mary's High School team advance to non-public North B state sectional title game. He was named first team all-league while helping St. Mary's win the 2014 NJIC League title. Jesse was among the state leaders in hits, doubles and runs scored.
"We are fortunate to have a quality young player like Jesse sign with Coppin State," Reed said. "Jesse's athletic ability will give us the flexibility of having him compete at both infield and outfield positions. His big offensive bat will enable him to come in as a true freshman and compete for instant playing time. When I was out watching him play this spring, I was amazed at the similarities he has to his older brother Jack who already has proven to be a top notch Division-1 player for us."
Jesse was also a big part of the under18 Bloomfield Bengals that won a county championship in the summer of 2012 and a league championship in 2013 while playing third base and pitching.
Coppin State will begin its 2015 season in February. The complete schedule will be released at a later date.
