Amoah Sets Indoor 60m & 200m Records at 2017 ECAC/IC4A Track and Field Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - Coppin State men's track and field team placed eighth overall with 36 points out of 43 teams at the 2017 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 3-5 at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Freshman Joseph Amoah set a new ECAC/IC4A indoor record in the men's 200 meter dash with a personal-best record of 20.80 winning gold in the event. Amoah also set a new national indoor 200 meter record in his native country of Ghana as well as a new Coppin State men's indoor record. Amoah also shined in the men's 60 meter dash with a blazing time of 6.78 seconds placing third in the finals.
Freshman Aaron Lewis placed third in the men's 60 meter hurdles (8.02), but recorded his season fastest time in the semifinals round clocking in at 7.92 seconds.
Senior Ronaldo Ball capped his indoor career as an Eagle with a personal best record in the men's 800 meter run finishing third with a time of 1:50.74 in the finals.
Senior Haysean Cowie-Clarke was fifth in the men's 60 meter finals with the third fastest Eagle time this season at 6.88 seconds.
The Eagles 4x400 meter relay team of Joseph Amoah, Fabian Hayles, Michael James and Ronadlo Ball posted their top relay time of the season at 3:13.42 in the preliminary round. Coppin State placed fifth in the relay finals.
Coppin State concludes their 2017 indoor season and will gear toward outdoor season beginning on Saturday, March 18th at the Maryland Invitational in College Park, MD.
