ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Kristen Deacon
won the weight throw at the Navy Lid Lifter to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Navy Lid Lifter on Tuesday afternoon.
A junior from Kingston, Jamaica, Deacon took the weight throw with a toss of 16.89m (55' 5.0"). Deacon also led a group of three Eagles in the shot put as her best throw measured in at 11.40m (37' 5.0"). Sophomores Alanna Newby
and Ariyana Larkins
had throws of 11.05m and 10.89m, respectively.
Sophomore Erielle Wallace
turned in the best performance for Coppin in the track events, placing fourth in the 400m Dash in 57.26 which is the fourth-fastest in school-history. Wallace also ran the 200m in a time of 26.24 with freshman Erykah Jerome
making her collegiate debut with times of 26.87 and 1:00.13 in the sprints.
Senior Savannah Forte
and sophomore Aidan Alston
both cleared 9' 0.25" in the pole vault which ties for the second-best in school-history.
Senior Randi Bohler
turned in a pair of solid performances in the long jump (16' 7.75") and 60m hurdles (9.44) while sophomore Tatiana Ogundeko
covered 800m in 2:25.70.
The Eagles will not compete again until Friday, January 12 at the HBCU Challenge held at The Armory in New York City.
