Men's Basketball Visits Baltimore Elementary School

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Coppin State University men's basketball team spoke to the students at Windsor Hills Elementary School in Baltimore, MD about staying in school and the importance of graduating on Thursday, October 13th.

Seniors Izais Hicks (Staten Island, NY), Mufaro Murinda (Pomona, CA), Keith Shivers (Upper Marlboro, MD), Joshua Treadwell (Newark, NJ), and junior Tre' Thomas (Largo, MD) stressed the impact of being part of a team and surrounding yourself with good people.

Associate head men's basketball coach Elwyn McRoy and the Eagles gave back to the community by speaking to students about the importance of being on a team and the benefits on becoming part of a team.

"We want to give back to the community. It is an asset to have our players visit a school and give the kids a chance to see people from the community that are doing something positive. It resonates with them more when they can see people that look like them and then to have them come to the game helps build a special connection," Coach McRoy said.

The Eagles open the 2016-17 season on Nov. 11th at Hofstra in Long Island, NY.
