JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Coppin State's men's tennis team dropped its spring season opener at Saint Peter's, 7-0, on Saturday at the Yanitelli Center.
To open the day, Coppin's
Jorge Rodriguez Rey and
Gavin Lewis dropped a 7-5 decision in No. 1 doubles while the Eagles' second and third pairings of
Andres Diaz/
Gabriel Franca and
Zaipo Oula/
Igor Zapparoli de Souza both fell, 6-2.
Rodriguez Rey won a team-high five games in a straight-set, 6-1, 6-4 loss at No. 1 Singles. Zapparoli de Souza and Franca each won three games in one of their sets in the fourth and fifth position as well.
The Eagles return to the court on March 2 when they host College of Charleston at 11 am.
