SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Coppin State men's basketball had three score in double figures paced by senior
Keith Shivers in a 94-51 loss to Utah on Friday, Nov. 18 in the Huntsman Center.
Shivers was the only Coppin State (0-5) starter to score in double figures finishing with a season-high ten points in 27 minutes. He made 3-of-9 shots from the field, 3-of-6 attempts from the free-throw line and one three-pointer. Junior

Dejuan Clayton also scored ten points for the Eagles in the team's third contest in three nights. Clayton had a team-high two assists and finished a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. Thomas made a pair of three-pointers as the duo led CSU's bench.
Utah made 12 three-pointers, converted on 22-of-31 free-throws, dished out 22 assists and made nine steals. All were opponent highs for the Eagles in the early portion of their season. In the first half Shivers and Clayton both scored seven points as the Eagles shot a low 26% (7-for-26) from the field. Utah made 17 shots including nine three-pointers building their lead. Treadwell carried the scoring in the second half with two three-pointers and Thomas added five. CSU continued to shoot poorly with seven made field goals in the final half, but improved with 8-of-12 free-throw attempts. Junior

Izais Hicks made 1-of-2 attempts. Utah cruised to a 94-51 win as the Eagles remain without a win in the non-conference portion of their schedule.
Coppin State continues their seven game road trip and will take on Ball State in Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, Nov. 25th at 3:30 p.m. (ET) in the main event of the MGM Grand Tournament. Ball State leads the all-time series with the Eagles 2-1. After Ball State, the Eagles will end the road trip at Grand Canyon on Friday, Nov. 25th at 10 p.m. (ET). This will be the first ever meeting between Grand Canyon and Coppin State.
